Humble beginnings...

WCM Internet is a small family owned company based near Shenandoah National Park in Fauquier County, VA. Like many people who live here, we love the hills, mountain views and  a quieter life in the country. And, like many others, we found that good internet is very hard to find. We tried one of the well known Satellite providers, and fell for the promises of speed and no hard data caps (just something called “Throttling”). 

Does this sound familiar to you? 

• you go to stream a show or movie, and you get hit with dial up speed (because you used up your “high speed data allotment”)
• you find your screen  buffering (over and over and over), and your web pages barely loading
•  you resort to the hot spot on your phone (if you have good cell phone reception....but that’s a different story)

So, what do you do?  You make time in your calendar to call the Satellite company. They say: “Oh no! You should be getting at least 1-3mbps to do the basics and standard quality streaming! We’ll send a tech out right away!”

You wait. And you wait. And you wait (sometimes  2 - 4 weeks because new customers and installs get first priority). They “fix it” and say everything is good!

And you wait for your next billing cycle when your data allotment comes back. In the meantime, you talk with your family about minimizing internet use; you learn to be patient; and you learn to wait until after 10 pm (because the internet is still terrible from dinner time until 10pm).

Why does this happen? 

Satellite is slow for a number of reasons: the satellite companies sell more internet than they actually have; everyone wants to use it at the same time (think of the slow down at Manassas during rush hour (s); and when it’s raining the reception can be affected too. Satellite companies also lock you into a 2 year contract. Folks like us spend those years learning to accept it, apologizing to our friends and colleagues, and staying up late to transmit large files. And we keep our eyes and ears open for a good company that offers a good, consistent internet connection.

We at WCM understand and we are here to help. When we moved to Hume, we encountered these same problems. So we created a solution for ourselves. At first we just offered it to our friends, but now we’re offering it to you too. We are here, with you in Fauquier County. Our mission is to help our neighbors, the prepper community and veterans achieve a serviceable, affordable internet connection. We don’t offer false promises, and we don’t have contracts.

How do I know WCM will work for me?

It’s hard to be quarantined. Even more so when you can’t zoom without interruption. Before you put any money down, we come to your house with our gear. We check the signal strength. We talk about your existing router setups and (if necessary) tell you about advanced long range antennas. Then we give you an estimate. All for free. 

Try it for a month. If you’re not satisfied, simply quit. No false promises. No contracts.
